Sergei Shushunov's Bio:
Sergei Shushunov was born in Russia in 1954 in what was then called Leningrad and is now called St. Petersburg. He studied medicine there, graduating in 1977. The next year he did internship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. In 1981 he moved to the United States, where from 1983 to 1986 he received training in pediatrics in Chicago, serving as Pediatric Chief Resident at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, followed by three year fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care at Universities of Florida and Minnesota. In 1990 he moved to New Jersey, then to Ohio before returning back to Illinois in 1996. During his medical career Dr. Sergei Shushunov held academic appointments at the Universities of Kansas and Illinois. He has received several awards and has published articles in the world’s leading medical publications. In addition, he holds three U.S. patents for ways to formulate natural remedies and to physically control body temperature.
In his dealings with illnesses in children, Dr. Shushunov became dissatisfied in the way some conditions have been treated by conventional means, and so he set out to create natural formulations based on his extensive experience with alternative medicine and studies of pharmacognosy. In 1997 he founded Lev Laboratories Ltd. to help bring his ideas to life - and especially to the lives of children. From the very beginning his mission was the creation of safe, well-tolerated, well-accepted and effective natural products and natural remedies to address common health problems of children. His research in the field of alternative medicine earned him two patents and lead to publication of several articles. Today, his company Lev Laboratories Ltd. develops, markets and distributes dietary supplements, homeopathic drugs, medical foods, and herbal remedies for infant colic, diarrhea, earache, middle ear infection, fever, diarrhea, and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) under brand name "4healthykids".
During the past few years, recognizing drawbacks and failures of commercially available Hypothermia / Targeted Temperature Management Systems he decided to focus his effort on developing new system based on entirely different physiological principal of body cooling. He formed a company TTM Inc, receivd a provisional patent, built a prototype device in collaboration with the Department of Engineering at University of Kansas and is ready to start a proof of concept laboratory study.
